The founders of Wine and Melanin, Kenneth Freeman, Amber Pantez, and Gamal Mclachlan, are excited to witness a future where wine is not just a beverage, but a celebration of culture, identity, and the indomitable spirit of the human soul. With every bottle purchased, we are one step closer to someday paying for a vineyard in Washington State, a state known for producing the best wines in the country. We can't wait to see our dream come to fruition and to have a facility to host an array of programs and events aimed at community empowerment, from networking events, agriculture classes, to economic seminars, hosting our most influential and brightest, with hopes of becoming the epicenter for empowerment for underserved communities..
Our Story
Our journey began in 2018, after serving our country with honor and integrity. It was amidst the chaos and uncertainty of deployments to Afghanistan that we discovered a newfound appreciation for life's simple pleasures—the taste of sun-ripened grapes, the scent of earth after rain, and the camaraderie shared over a glass of wine.
Returning home from deployment, we found ourselves drawn to the world of winemaking and winetasting. With a fierce determination burning in our hearts, we set out to carve a new path, one that would continue to honor our heritage, uplift our respective community and challenge the status quo. And so, Wine and Melanin was born—a labor of love, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and a beacon of hope for those who dare to dream beyond the confines of expectation.
